What You’ll Be Doing – Key Responsibilities

As a Driver at AECI, your primary responsibility will be the safe and compliant transport of explosives and hazardous materials. Your daily tasks will include:

  •  Transport explosives according to strict regulations.
  •  Adhere to spillage cleaning procedures – ensure safety and environmental compliance.
  •  Conduct daily vehicle inspections using check sheets.
  •  Take vehicles for explosives licence renewal monthly.
  •  Take vehicles for Certificate of Fitness (COF) annually.
  •  Renew Rigid Heavy Vehicle Certificate every 2 years.
  •  Renew Rigid Light Vehicle Certificate every 2 years.
  •  Maintain Convey Dangerous Goods by Road certification annually.
  •  Maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to standards.
  •  Load and offload explosives safely.
  •  Return used lead azide drums to Detonators.
  •  Transport different types of explosives to burning grounds and other sites.
  •  Transport detonator waste to Z49 daily.
  •  Collect acid/reagents to and from relevant areas.
  •  Transport effluent to detonator isolation plant.
  •  Maintain a clean and safe environment inside and outside of vehicles.
  •  Complete delivery notes daily.
  •  Fill in requisition form and collect materials.
  •  Supply trolleys as required.
  •  Complete logbook after each trip.
  •  Move material as per requirements.
  •  Complete trolley dispatch logbook for traceability.
